January 22, 2019 - The Journey of Strength
Presenters: Blaine Mackie BSc PT, Dip Manip PT, FCAMPT, CFT II
Special Guests: Popeye Supplements of Saskatoon
Research clearly shows that strength training is one of the best activities – offering nothing but benefits, including the maintenance and improvement of muscle mass as we get older. Even at the young age of 80 we can still improve strength, which leads to greater degrees of independence.
It has been shown that strength training also improves cognitive abilities and has benefits for people with Alzheimer’s. It improves our overall health, including nervous system activity, hormonal |
activity, blood pressure, and diabetes. When you are strong, you can be as active as you want to be and do the things you want to do. Strength, to us, is an exciting adventure of self-challenges with great rewards, not to mention the benefits of being stronger for sport whether it is competitive or recreational.
