The Cervical-Shoulder-Thoracic Spine Course

Instructors:
Blaine Mackie, B.Sc., B.Sc.P.T., Dip. Manip. P.T., F.C.A.M.T. CFTII, RAW Powerlifter
Jeff Brousseau, B.Sc. (P.T.), Dip. Manip.P.T., F.C.A.M.T., B.Comm.

Course Description:

Our cervical-shoulder course is designed to provide the clinician with an in-depth understanding of the clinical biomechanics of the cervical and shoulder girdle complex. The course will include a practical emphasis placed on the biomechanical assessment of the craniovertebral, cervical, upper thoracic, shoulder girdle, and glenohumeral regions. This will provide the therapist with an approach that will allow them to prioritize the difficulties and understand the key mechanical link to a complex presentation. The participants will be instructed and become adept at performing articular mobilizations in order to recover mobility when there is a true loss of articular mobility. A practical application of some basic myofascial release techniques will allow the therapist to proficiently integrate this modality into their day-to-day practice. A key component to this course is the application of the theory and practice of stabilization. Finally, the course participants will be given some unparalleled guidance as to some effective upper quadrant strengthening.
