Myofascial Release

Instructor:
Jeff Brousseau, B.Sc. (P.T.), Dip. Manip.P.T., F.C.A.M.T., B.Comm.

This course has been designed to provide the participant with theoretical and practical information and techniques in order to comprehend the myofascial system of the body. In understanding the nature and the response of myofascial tissue, the clinician can more adequately assess the needs of their clientele based on each individual’s presentation.

By stretching and releasing the underlying myofascial tissue, we are much more easily able to approach articular restrictions. The myofascial philosophy views the osseous components as spacers and suggests that many articular restrictions have a significant myofascial component.
This course will cover both the upper quadrant and lower quadrant techniques. There will be a strong emphasis on body awareness and assessment for tautness throughout the myofascial system. Practical sessions will allow a hands-on approach using techniques to release the myofascial tissue as well as addressing special techniques involving the psoas, piriformis, thoraco-lumbar, and craniosacral areas. This course provides the therapist with the ability to easily integrate their newfound skills into a conventional approach.
