Led by Kelsey Gudmundson
Kelsey has been an avid lifter and fitness nut for nearly 10 years after falling in love with the gym in 2015. Kelsey is also a competitive powerlifter and powerlifting coach who is passionate about helping athletes of all ages realize their potential to gain strength with appropriate guidance, both mental and physical. Whether you are brand new to the gym or a seasoned lifter, Kelsey will allow you to feel comfortable in the gym while seeing progress and enjoying the process. 

If you love the ‘big three’ lifts: squat, bench, and deadlift (SBD), this class is for you! Led by competitive powerlifter and powerlifting coach, Kelsey Gudmundson, this class is geared towards those who have previous experience (6+ months) with the barbell lifts. Whether you’re wanting to advance your technical skills and capacity, get stronger, break through plateaus, or switch things up and add a new layer of proficiency/programming to your training, this class is for you!

The squat, bench, and deadlift are all incredibly complex movements that take years to master. Stability, mobility, and appropriate programming are a few of the essential components that need to be considered when trying to get as strong as you can, and this becomes increasingly important after you have trained these lifts for some time. At first, strength gains can come relatively quickly and linearly. Over time, however, technical skill development and more specific programming can add an entirely new layer to your training and allow you to unlock new levels of strength (& add more weight to the bar!).


Mackie’s Barbell Masterclass Level I will be heavily focused on technical aspects of the squat, bench, and deadlift (SBD) in addition to barbell/free weight accessory exercises designed to enhance each individuals’ strength in the three main lifts. Stability and mobility exercises/movements will also be a focus, as these can significantly enhance your performance in the gym and allow you to achieve new levels of strength.


This class can also be done as part of a preparatory phase for the Mackie Powerlifting Meet taking place in the Fall of 2025 (date TBD) - more info on this coming early 2025!


This class includes the following (+ more) throughout the 12 weeks: 
  • Initial ‘testing’ period: baseline measures of your strength
  • Skill assessment: helps to best understand where each individual could improve
  • S/B/D progression: through intermediate/advanced programming (ie: top sets/backdown sets, %-based training, SBD variations, etc.) & utilization of accessories
  • Mock meet: during the final week of the class, we will run a mock powerlifting meet where everyone will get a chance to step on the platform and go for a new 1-rep max!
  • Consistent feedback and communication with coach Kelsey
  • FUN, SUPPORT, KNOWLEDGE/SKILL ACQUISITION, & A NEW CHALLENGE!
