January 9, 2024 @ 7 PM
Location: 3012 Arlington Avenue Presenter: Kessa Scriver, CHN, Pn1, ISSA Personal Trainer The ending of your menstrual cycle signals the beginning of many other things: hot flashes, mood swings, weight gain, and muscle loss to name a few. Menopause is a biological process that can’t be stopped; however one can work toward optimizing and proactively managing this time in your life.
Menopause occurs in women at approximately 40-50 years of age, and frequently affects women into and beyond their late 50’s. The menopausal time frames, although variable, can last around 7-14 years. Menopause can also be triggered by a hysterectomy or removal of your ovaries. During perimenopause, the production of female hormones, estrogen and progesterone, begins to vary greatly. The intensity and duration of this transition period can vary depending on key lifestyle and nutrition factors. Your diet, exercise and lifestyle choices play a huge role in how your body experiences menopause. A sedentary lifestyle, smoking, and eating the standard American diet can make common menopause symptoms (hot flashes, weight gain, etc) even worse. Many women will start to experience low energy levels, poor quality sleep, and decreased motivation, all of which can result in weight gain, muscle loss and a poor self-image. Maintaining a healthy, high-quality nutrition plan paired with a progressive strength training program is the best approach to manage menopause symptoms, decrease weight gain and prevent muscle loss. Mackie Physiotherapy has developed a Menopause and Strength Training Camp designed to provide you with a well-rounded and comprehensive approach to optimizing your diet and exercise routine while experiencing this transitional period in your life. Join us for a free one hour in-person workshop as we look into menopause and what you can do to help manage the symptoms during these difficult years. Workshop Details This workshop will provide information about the symptoms of menopause and how it impacts the female body, plus nutritional and physical recommendations. The Menopause and Strength Training Camp is the best option for you to avoid gaining weight, losing muscle mass, losing bone strength and being miserable while experiencing menopause.
